Ecotourism with a hand lens at Omora park
The scientific team of the Omora Ethnobotanical Park has discovered that the subantarctic ecoregion of Magallanes is home to a very high diversity of bryophytes (mosses and liverworts). In the extreme south of America, in less than 0.01% of the earth’s surface, more than 5% of the world’s Bryophyte species grow, and more than 60% of these small plants would be endemic. Therefore, Cape Horn is a «hotspot» or world center of diversity for the flora of bryophytes. English version. Ricardo Rozzi. Universidad de Magallanes y University of North Texas.
